Depends on the gingerbread! The gingerbread house things are never really worth eating, but good old-fashioned gingerbread, kind of like a spice cake, can be really really good, especially just out of the oven.
My grandma used to make incredibly good gingerbread. I'm sure I have the recipe around here somewhere...
It depends on how much whipped cream you add and clearly you didn't use enough if you were able to taste the gingerbread.
