Kiernan's back on his skateboard again
What you can't see is the relaxed left hand and the completely tense right hand.

Kiernan Carver: Playwright
Kiernan wrote his first play last night. I don't know what brought it on but he suddenly sat on the couch with his notebook and started writing. He wrote a script for both Lexy and I and handed them out. What we didn't realize was that the script would then morph into a second play.
First play:
(Lexy is wrapped up in my Yoga Mat and meowing like a kitty)
Lexy: Meow...Meow...Meow (Kiernan was very specific that she count to three; one for each dot)
*mommy unwraps the yoga mat*
Mommy: Aww, poor kitty. Let me take you home. Come on kitty!
Lexy: Meow...Meow...Meow...Meow
THE END!
Second Play:
(Lexy is wrapped up in the Yoga Mat again, but this time like a bed and blanket)
Mommy: Princess Alexia, wake up! I have a surprise for you. I've found you a prince!
*Lexy wakes up to see a prince that Kiernan has created out of blankets, two balls, a helmet from his Halloween costume this year and a pair of goggles*
Lexy: I'm coming! You're cute! Are you going to marry me?
THE END!
But at the end of the second play Kiernan went a little off-script and started jumping around. Then they both started jumping around and it became something completely different. We filmed it but it's rather long. I'll see what we wound up with and post it.

Trust me, it's not lemonade
Every so often we play this little game where he pulls the Lemon juice concentrate from the fridge and dares me to dare him to drink it. The dare usually doesn't work but this time it did. I like to call this set, "Sucking my face inside out." It kind of reminds me of when my brother used to eat Baker's Chocolate.

I'm sad to report
That the day after receiving family photo (below), Kiernan's girlfriend broke up with him because another boy in class wrote her a note. Mike asked him if the ex-girlfriend had a girl in class she didn't like or if she had a really good friend in class. The way to get back at her would be to send this other girl a really nice Valentine's Day card instead. Mike then asked Kiernan if there was another girl in class that he liked. "Mrs. Pena" was the reply. That would be Kiernan's teacher.

Twas the night before the birthday party
And all through the house, not a creature was stirring except for Kiernan throwing up.
Chant with me now "Please don't be the flu, please don't be the flu, please don't be the flu!!"

HOORAY and BOOOOO
Booooooo=My next door neighbor's house finally sold. They are nice, quiet neighbors and I will be sad to see them go. Also "Boo" because I wanted their house so bad. The housing market is so terrible that after starting their house for $310k they finally sold it for $240k. I wanted it bad!! Their house is so beautiful and the upgrades they've made are spectacular.
Hooray=No more crazy grandson coming over to the neighborhood!!! YES!

Happy Birthday baby boy!

Today is Kiernan's 9th birthday! Nine years ago I was 2 weeks overdue and miserable. I had been laid off of work and my last day was to be when I had Kiernan. The co-worker I had been covering for had been on vacation and the joke was that I couldn't go into labor until she got back. Well, on June 30th she got back and I was having contractions at work. Talk about timing!
When I woke up on the morning of June 30, 1999 I knew it was the day. I wasn't having contractions yet but the strangest thing happened. I was drifting in and out of sleep and heard Mike get up to jump in the shower. I'm sure it was the door needing some WD-40 but as he shut the bathroom door I distinctly heard a child's voice say the word, "Momma." It startled me awake. I told Mike, "Today is the day!" and told him what I heard. He just looked at me like riiiiiight. All day I wrote down my contractions on sticky notes (stacking one on top of the next) until finally I called the doctor's office. Come on in!
It was a rough night but 23 hours after my water broke we had Kiernan! Mike and I both cried. And Kiernan peed on the mean nurse. I remember mom telling me she had to go into work to fill out a leave slip and her boss challenged her about putting in for family sick leave. "I have amniotic fluid on my sandal! I'm putting in for sick leave!"
We were driving to Kiernan's party on Sunday and I mentioned to Mike about how having a baby naturally is pretty exciting. He was like, are you nuts? I pointed out that with Alexia the doctor was more like, "What are you doing next Thursday at 8am?" With Kiernan there was the day of contraction counting, calling my mom to pick me up, my water breaking the instant I called Mike to tell him I was in labor, the hospital stay....and Mike interjected, "And me yelling at the doctor and nurses." Yeah, we could have done without that.
And nine years later we have a funny little boy who dances around singing, "babycakes, babycakes, babycakes", thinks everything should be spanked, "like a pepperoni", tells me every day, "I'm boooooooooooooored!", I hear "LEXY!! Mooooooom!!! Lexy is *insert annoying thing his sister does to him here*" a few times a week and everywhere we go he asks, "Will Logan (his cousin) be there?" He's everything I wanted in a baby boy. It's his last year in the single digits and only a few years away from his teens. I hope he stays as sweet as he is now.

The hardest working kid in baseball

He had an amazing game that night. This was also the night he offered to play on the other team's roster. Not enough kids showed up and the game would have been forfeited if kids didn't offer to play. So all the super amazing plays he made were against his own team. He was grinning from ear to ear throughout almost the entire game.

Yankees Rule!
The Yankees lost their first game tonight (which is not bad considering the season is more than halfway over). Kiernan played AWESOME!! The last hit he had was a double that brought two runners in.

Baseball Rules!!!
Baseball season is upon us. Last year he was a Cardinal, this year he's with the Yankees. He loves playing baseball and has a really good time. They've played two games so far and both games they smoked the other team (they don't keep official scores in Farm League but they smoked none the less). On Thursday, he told daddy that he was going to dedicate his first hit to me for my birthday :) I had to chase Lexy down but came back to one of the coaches strapping him into his catchers gear. The coach told him, "That was a great hit buddy." I said, "You hit the ball?" He nodded. "Was that my birthday hit?" He looked confused for just a brief moment then his face lit up. "YEAH!"

I am really tired of sick children
We had a fantastic time at mom's house for Easter. Kiernan had been complaining that his stomach hurt earlier in day and didn't eat dinner that afternoon. When we started getting ready for bed the stomach cramping began. Poor guy spent the entire evening on the floor bent over a bowl throwing up and crying. Every 1 1/2-2 hours he woke up crying with bad stomach cramps and throwing up. Mike took him to the doctor's the next day and he said, "Looks like stomach flu." He was already starting to feel better by the time they got home and when I got home from work he felt like himself. But then it was time to get ready for bed and the stomach cramps started again. And he spent last night crying and bent over a bowl. That's not stomach flu! So we're now exploring something called H. Pylori which is a bacteria that causes ulcers in your stomach (Mike gets it occasionally). It is more prevelent in the evening when the stomach is empty. Mike picked him up some Zantac 75 this morning. An 8 year old on ulcer medication--Sheesh! He's just now starting to feel kind of bad again but now the intense stomach cramping like the past few nights. So we sit and wait to see what happens next. I am soooo sleepy!
